There are three British galleries represented at SOFA New York 2012 as well as Ruthin Craft Centre, Erskine, Hall & Coe, Flow and Sarah Myerscough Fine Art. We went and said ‘hello’ today and had a look at the fantastic work that they had brought to the fair.
We had a lovely chat with Thea Burger at Erskine, Hall & Coe. Thea curated a very beautiful exhibition of the late Ruth Duckworth’s ceramic work at Ruthin Craft Centre in 2009, it turned out to be the last exhibition before Duckworth’s death in the same year. The gallery is showing work by Duckworth and other esteemed makers including a beautiful collection of Hans Coper ceramics.
Flow from Notting Hill in London is representing work which reflects the profundity of nature with a number of different makers including the ceramic work of Dutch ceramicist Henk Wolvers.
Mayfair gallery, Sarah Myerscough Fine Art have brought eleven makers who use wood to make striking, minimalist vessel forms, elevating the skill and qualities of working with wood to exceptional levels of craftsmanship.
